Online learning refers to courses and programs offered via the Internet. The main difference between online and traditional courses is the delivery format-not the content. Online courses go through the same rigorous curriculum process established by our colleges, and they are taught by qualified instructors. KCTCS offers three different kinds of online classes: KYVC ONLINE, WEB-ENHANCED, & WEB LOCAL
KYVC Online
This class section number is designated with a "Z." For instance, 75Z1 means that this class is delivered by Madisonville (75) and that it is a fully online class (Z). Faculty may require proctored exams at testing locations either determined by the student and approved by the instructor or at a KCTCS proctored test site.
Web-Enhanced
This class section does not contain the letter "Z" because you must physically go to class on campus, but the instructor "enhances" the class by having students go online for various parts of the class such as discussion, quizzes, lecture notes, etc.
Web Class Local
This class section does not contain the letter "Z" because even though the class is delivered mostly online, the instructor requires at least one campus visit.
HIGHLIGHTS OF ONLINE LEARNING
Online learning offers flexibility and convenience for adult learners. You may access the course from a computer with an Internet connection 24 hours a day, seven days a week from home, work, a college campus, or public library.
Except for taking the quizzes and turning in the assignments when they are due, your schedule is up to you.
