Gateway student elected to KCTCS Board of Regents for 2004-05
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 12, 2004) – Gateway Community and Technical College student Andy Donelan has been elected to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents during the 2004-05 academic year.
The 14-member Board of Regents establishes policy for Kentucky’s statewide system of two-year community and technical colleges. Donelan will begin his 2004-05 term as technical college student regent on July 1, 2004. He replaces Donna Bartlett of West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
Cynthia L. Read, chair of the KCTCS Board of Regents, said she looks forward to the new regent’s service on the board. “Mr. Donelan will provide a valuable voice in the deliberations of the Board of Regents,” Read said. “We will benefit from his participation.”
Donelan is a full-time student majoring in graphic design, and carrying a 3.8 GPA. Upon completion of his associate degree, he plans to work as a designer in the packaging and advertising industry in Cincinnati.
Donelan currently serves as vice president of the Student Advertising Club and is a student ambassador to local high schools assisting with recruitment as well as in-house tours. He is also active in volunteer organizations such as the Senior Citizens Organization of Northern Kentucky and the Special Olympics
Donelan graduated with honors from Newport Central Catholic High School in 2002 and acquired perfect attendance during all four years.
One of Donelan’s goals, as a student regent, is to get current and future students involved in the growth and development of KCTCS with their input and ideas.
“I am excited about having the opportunity to represent students around the state. I look forward to the opportunity to get input from students to better help the Board of Regents make decisions that effect student lives,” said Donelan.
