KCTCS dedicates new headquarters in Versailles

VERSAILLES, Ky. (November 19, 2004) - The Kentucky Community and Technical College System dedicated its new System Office today in Versailles, Kentucky. Community leaders, government officials, and representatives from education, business and industry joined KCTCS employees to celebrate the opening of their new headquarters located just north of downtown.

The event began with a dedication ceremony followed by an open house and reception attended by over 400 employees and guests. Students in the culinary arts program of Bowling Green Technical College catered the event.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Michael B. McCall, president of KCTCS, spoke of the triumphs of the system, describing the dedication as both testament to what KCTCS and the City of Versailles have achieved and promise of what is to come.

For McCall, the dedication of the new system office represents the beginning of another "chapter of the achievement and growth of KCTCS."

"The creation of a permanent system office home has been an important long-term goal of KCTCS," said McCall. "Combining our multiple facilities into a new cohesive campus environment creates a community for our employees, and establishes KCTCS as a permanent fixture in higher education."

The 125,000-square-foot facility will serve as the corporate office and conference center for the state's 16 community and technical colleges.

The KCTCS System Office is equipped with technologically sophisticated workforce training rooms, a 300-seat conference center, conference rooms, board rooms and office space for the KCTCS staff. It will offer meeting and conference space for over 4,200 faculty and staff throughout the Commonwealth.

"This is an exciting time for both KCTCS and Versailles," said Versailles Mayor Fred Siegelman. "Their decision to locate in our community is a tribute to our joint commitment to a shared vision of growth. The presence of KCTCS will have a positive and impressive impact on the city, the region, and the entire state."
KCTCS colleges change lives by providing academic and technical associate degrees; diploma and certificate programs in occupational fields; pre-baccalaureate education; adult, continuing and developmental education; customized training for business and industry; and distance learning.
