KCTCS
LEXINGTON, Ky. (December 16, 2004) - President Michael B. McCall announced today the appointment of Dr. Jack A. Thomas to a new leadership position in corporate and industrial training for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS).
Dr. Thomas, who currently serves as president and chief executive officer of Bowling Green Technical College, has been named Assistant to the Chancellor for Corporate and Industrial Training at the KCTCS System Office. He will continue his duties at the college until a new president has been selected.
A presidential search process will begin in January to find a new president and CEO of the college.
Dr. Thomas earned his bachelor's degree in comprehensive (chemistry, physics, and mathematics) science from The Ohio State University, two separate masters degrees in urban and regional planning and comprehensive (chemistry and biology) science, and his doctorate in higher education from the University of Mississippi.
He has also completed course work at the University of Vienna, the University of Hawaii, and Stanford University.
After teaching assignments in Japan and Austria, serving in the Governor's Office in Tennessee, and operating his own consulting firm, Dr. Thomas accepted the position as the director of the Kentucky Advanced Technology Center in Bowling Green in 1990.
During his tenure as director/president, the college has grown from 80 students to over 2,500 students.
The College now has four campuses in Bowling Green and Glasgow and two additional campuses are planned, one at the new Kentucky TransPark and one in Franklin.
Under his leadership, associate degrees were added in all program areas and general education components were launched in fall 2004.
To accommodate his statewide duties, Dr. Thomas will maintain offices at both the KCTCS System Office in Versailles and at the TransPark Technical Training Center in Bowling Green. He will continue to reside in Bowling Green
