KCTCS announces 5,521 graduation candidates for the 2005 spring semester
Includes a total of 8,611 credentials to be awarded


VERSAILLES, Ky. (April 29, 2005) - The Kentucky Community and Technical College System will honor 5,521 candidates for graduation in college ceremonies across the state.

"Graduation marks not only new beginnings for our students, it signifies the importance of our work as educators," said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. "I commend all the families who have supported our students, as well as the faculty and staff at our colleges for their contribution to student success."

Many of the candidates are receiving more than one credential. The 8,611 credentials include 3,813 certificates, 1,392 diplomas, and 3,406 degrees.

Spring commencement exercises at the KCTCS colleges are scheduled to begin April 29. A list of college ceremonies including time, place, and keynote speakers follows. In addition, a table listing the number of graduating students and their credentials is attached.

  • Ashland Community and Technical College:
    Friday, May 13, 7:00 p.m., Paramount Arts Center; commencement speakers: The Honorable Rocky Adkins, KY 99th District Representative; KCTCS President Michael B. McCall, and Susan A. Adams, a graduate from Ashland.

  • Big Sandy Community and Technical College:
    Friday, May 13, 7:00 p.m., Mountain Arts Center, Prestonsburg, commencement speaker: Kenny Rice, sportscaster and 2005 Outstanding Alumnus.

  • Bluegrass Community and Technical College District:
    Central Kentucky Technical College:
    Friday, May 6, 7:00 p.m., Frankfort Convention Center; commencement speaker: Dr. Charles Wade, a 26-year employee of the Kentucky Department of Education and division director in vocational education.

    Lexington Community College:
    Sunday, May 9, 7:30 p.m., Rupp Arena; commencement speaker: First Lady of Kentucky Glenna Fletcher, a graduate of Lexington CC.
