as 1st permanent president

McCall's appointment was approved by all 10 members who were present. He reports to work in Kentucky in January.
"Everybody is looking at Kentucky," McCall told the Board of Regents. "We have an opportunity to position ourselves to be the finest two-year system (of colleges) anywhere because of your vision."
McCall is leaving his position as executive director of the South Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Educa

tion. In South Carolina, McCall has overseen a system that comprises 16 colleges, has 4,000 full-time employees and serves more than  86,000 students in credit courses and 106,000 in continuing education programs.
"I can't tell you how much I appreciate your confidence," McCall told the board. "With your commitment, I have the same commitment to make this system the best it can be.
"I am truly excited; I am honored; and I am humbled."

Unanimous vote completes search

n a unanimous yet emotion-filled vote, the KCTCS Board of Regents at 10:48 a.m. EST Dec. 3 ended a 15-month process by appointing Dr. Michael B. McCall as the system's first permanent president.
