Faculty and Staff Award of Excellence

Established in 2003, the Award of Excellence honors one faculty and one staff representative from each of the 17 KCTCS colleges, and one staff person from the System Office. From the college recipients one faculty and one staff awardee are selected to receive the System-wide recognition award and $1000.

Purpose/Goal of the program:

"Our people are our greatest resource," said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. "We are committed to providing opportunities for their personal and professional development, and we are committed to recognizing excellence through such processes as the New Horizons awards." Dr. Michael B. McCall

When It's Held:

October - Award nominations packets to colleges
November - Nominees selected by college leadership teams
December Nominations and faculty/staff portfolios due to System Office
March - Recipient packets reviewed by current President's Leadership Seminar class
April - Press release to media on college awardees
May - Awards recognition ceremony at the New Horizons Professional & Organizational Development Conference

Who Can/Should Apply/Participate:

All KCTCS faculty and staff (presidents and vice presidents not eligible)

Criteria for Selection:

College level - criteria established by individual college leadership teams System level - The faculty award recipients have demonstrated exemplary teaching performance, student guidance and advising, internal and external service, professional and organizational development, and educational leadership. The staff award recipients have demonstrated an exemplary performance in position responsibility, internal and external service, professional and organizational development, and leadership.
