Charles C. CaudillI found myself as a single parent, in my 50's, out of work due to injuries, and no idea in what direction I was going. All my friends were my age and had no suggestions to give. After an exhausting attempt in a job search, I was either over qualified or not enough education. I was referred to Vocational Rehabilitation. I was given a battery of tests and my case was assigned to Ms. Amy Carver. This is where my story begins. It was exciting to find that I scored fairly well on my Entrance Exam. Choosing my course of study was quite a thrill also. I knew nothing about computers. Never used one. So I chose Computer Repair Service and Electronics Technician, as my major. Everything in my life changed the first day of class. I started meeting new people, students and teachers, faculty and staff. I was in the beginning of something new. After a few short semesters of education, an opportunity was available to do some hands on work with computer repair. This was also part of my scheduled course of study. Co-op was another exciting part of my education. I was building, servicing, upgrading and loading software on computers. I became interested in networking. I added a few courses of Cisco and Windows 2000 Server. My education led me to unlimited resources at KCTCS. I also found extremely qualified instructors. I have to mention a few. Mr. Cloe, AC, Microprocessors, and Devices. Mr. Mahan, Digital and Cisco. Mr. Tucker, Technical Math I and II. And above all, Mr. Glen Elsener, Computer Repair and Service and A+ Certification. Mr. Elsener also supervised my Co-op, and my Ready-to-Work Programs. He also was my Advisor. He gave me excellent advice, direction and a well rounded education in computers. Any hurdle or problem with my studies was taken care of by Mr. Paul Brinkman. His guidance and counseling made my life at school a lot easier. The available recourses, learning aids and dedicated instructors have made opportunities and directions available to me. I am very proud to be a graduate of the class of 2002.
